Meet the Co-Founders

Creative Communities International was started in 2002 by David Engwicht and Dr Ingrid Burkett.

Ingrid and David are both 'street philosophers', artists and social inventors. They share a passion for community development through social innovations.

Ingrid is a past lecturer in International Community Development at University of Queensland (Australia) and has written extensively on globalization. She has worked both in Australia and interanationally on development issues.

David came to international prominence through his creative thinking on transport and is inventor of the Walking School Bus, Street Reclaiming techniques, Red Sneaker Week, the 5Rs of Traffic Reduction and a co-inventor of the Pace Car. He is an award-winning author and has an unpublished book on creativity.

Both David and Ingrid are popular conference and workshop presenters and are noted for helping people think outside the box.

For more information on David see The David Engwicht Story and for more information on Ingrid see The Ingrid Burkett Story.
